Or happy Lunar New Year. At our school we celebrate Chinese New Year (but many other Asian countries celebrate this holiday). It is the year of the Ox!
We started the week off with a spectacular parade. The transitional kindergarten class made some wonderful dragons. We had music, drums and made lots of noise.

I grew up in San Francisco – the parades were amazing and is the reason I love celebrating Chinese New Year at school:
We made a collaborative dragon. The children all decorated a paper plate and were thrilled to see the final product.
We also decorated the hall with lights and lanterns.
My outfit is from a visit to Hong Kong.
Each child received a red envelope to take home.
Families celebrate around the table.
Chopsticks are so great for the classroom, or for fun at home. The children love working with them and it builds their muscles and small motor skills for writing!
