This book is a 2017 Caldecott Medal award winner.
What a lovely book to introduce perception, perspective and different points of view. This book is so creative and beautifully illustrated. It really captures the children’s attention.
This phrase occurs throughout the book, a great way to pull the children back in (if needed) by “putting whiskers and ears on” and we licked our paws:
Maybe my most favorite illustration in the book:
This illustration is a little scary, but when we compared it to how the child sees the cat vs how the mouse sees the cat, they quickly understood it.
After reading the book, we looked at some of the animals in the book and talked about what the cat might see (images printed and laminated):
This book can easily be used as a jumping off point for art projects, or more in depth science lessons about some of the animals in the book. I LOVE this book!
