by Mercer Mayer
Haven’t we all been afraid of a monsters at some point in our lives? I wonder if Mercer Mayer knew what was in my head when I was a child? These illustrations are the best.

But what I really love about this book is the power this little boy gains over the monsters after he learns karate. The perfect way to deal with any kind of monster.

So of course, we did some karate of our own…

And who better to practice our karate on than Mavis the Monster?!

And now all of the children can use a little karate to scare the monsters away, just like the boy in the book!

My after school children used their karate skills and went on a monster hunt. They even received official monster hunter badges!

And of course – don’t forget to play Monster Mash by Bobby Picket.
