PIRATES GO TO SCHOOL by Corinne Demas illustrated by John Manders
The children were met at the door by “Captain Library” and asked to “walk the plank”(over sharks) into the library:
They were met with more sharks (on the projector) when they got into the library:
This is a cute and funny book. The pirates “smell of rotting fish”, use skulls for math, share treasure maps at show-and-tell, and my favorite: eat slimy squid at snack time.
AND pirates love story time! 🙂
Naturally, we went on a treasure hunt after we read the book. We grabbed our map, and had to figure out where to go next.
We found the treasure! An old friend of Captain Library’s was guarding it. He had a message for us:
He told us we could each take one piece of treasure.
For my after school classes, we made maps, used our spyglasses and had “swords” for our treasure hunt. Pirate play is fun!
Another Beatrix approved book! #Beatrixthebookbunny
