This story starts out with lots of giggles, “underwear” will do it….
Our students have been practicing for our Christmas Program. All of the children will be singing Jingle Bells, so they were already familiar with the song. They were surprised and delighted by Santa Duck’s version:
Our vocabulary word from this book was eggnog. Some children were familiar with it, but most were not. I brought some eggnog, so that they could see and smell it.
After the story, we talked about the duck singing “Jingle quack” and the cow singing “Jingle Moo”. Then talked about what other Santa animals would sing. Santa cat would sing “Jingle meow”, Santa pig “Jingle oink” etc. The children really loved this and it is a great brain activity for them. They really have to think it through. Many of the children will rush and sing “Jingle cat” before they think it all the way through. Try it at home.
Guess what Santa Library sings? “Jingle READ”!
To make the library feel more festive, I had a “fire” going and a lovely cedar scent:
Each child left with a bell to sing Jingle Bells or Jingle whatever with!
We read Santa’s Stuck and made this cute craft for my after school class:
Find Santa’s Stuck here:
The craft was inspired by this: http://mommylittlehelper.blogspot.com/2013/12/santa-claus-preschool-theme.html
Santa Berto and Santa Beatrix approve of this book! 🙂
