Dragon Fun in the Library…

This week, all of the students worked on part of a collaborative dragon for the Chinese New Year, which we will be learning about next week. So we read about dragons this week!

THE PAPER BAG PRINCESS by Robert Munch, Illustrated by Michael Martchenko and IF I HAD A DRAGON by Tom and Amanda Ellery.

The Paper Bag Princess is one of my favorites. Girl Power. And if you want to know how Elizabeth lives happily ever after… you will need to read the book. 😉

If I Had a Dragon is such a cute book, the children just giggle through it.

Each child took a “pet dragon” home. What will each child do with their pet dragon?

Print a pet dragon:

“My” winter castle was playing on the projector:

For my afternoon classes we retold the story with literacy bags from The Paper Bag Princess:

We also went on a dragon hunt around the school, and then “hatched” some dragons eggs (baking soda and vinegar):

…I am not sure what Beatrix thinks about dragons…but he seems pretty happy….
