We celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at our school! It was so fun.
This book is a simple, brightly colored, fun, bilingual book. The kids loved it. Hopefully they learned a few new words in Spanish. If nothing else, I think it is important to expose children to other languages.

We reviewed most of the words we learned from the book:

On the projector (could it be Miss Library doing the tango?):

We danced a little tango in the library:

Next door in Maker Space, the students made a collaborative piñata.

For my after school classes we learned a little more about some Mexican treats by doing a taste test (I included cookies to go with the book):

We decorated piñatas:

We also had a little dancing fiesta:

They took home a coloring page of some of the words we learned in the book:
This book would have been cute to read too, but we read out of time.

We also celebrated Hispanic Heritage month as a school with a family night Taco dinner. There was artwork, live music, amazing food and of course- the children broke the piñata!

Berto says he is “muy contento”! Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
