We’re so lucky to have dear friends and family who help us navigate life when things go awry. We might talk about it, shout about it, remember it, laugh about it, hide from it, even think about throwing everything away or making someone else suffer. But often, what we really need is someone to simply listen. Sometimes, we just need time and space to work things out ourselves. Sometimes, we need someone to listen, sometimes we need to be the listener. This story is such a nice reminder for us all.
That is what this sweet book is about. It is so well illustrated, it almost does not even need words!

Our vocabulary word:

Shouting and roaring like a bear:

We reviewed the animals and their sounds. Most of the children had never heard a hyena “laughing”:

We also had fun with this story wheel:

Our rabbit on the projector:

I made The Rabbit Listened story bags for my after school classes:

Each child loved their story wheel and the coloring sheets from Cori Doerrfeld.

Anytime I can work in scissor time, I will. And this worksheet was an additional way to talk about our emotions.

We also put on our big “listening ears”.

Of course we had to use blocks to build something “amazing”!

Here is another story about emotions:
