JACK AND THE BEANSTALK…AGAIN!

I suppose as long as I have “Jack” trying to escape the “Giant” in the library, I will have to find another version of this story! But, it never fails to enthrall! So here we are again, just another version! 🙂

This version is retold by Mara Alperin, and illustrated by Mark Chambers.

Look at the beard! Wow! Hahahah.

This book has some great vocabulary words: furious, magnificent, enormous, disgust, shimmering are just a few…

All the golden eggs(and ours)!!

Hmmmm…what will Beatrix do with a golden egg?

On the projector – the countryside where Jack lives:

One of the reasons I love this story, is that it is great for pre-reading skills. Ask your child(children) to repeat FEE, FI, FO, FUM. Then ask them to stomp their feet and pretend like they are a giant as they say it. They are now using gross motors skills and practicing the sound of “f”. Such a fun way to learn:

Next door in maker space, Ms. Liz worked with the story too.. How high can you build your “beanstalk”?

Another Berto and Beatrix approved book! The Giant agrees.

We had more fun with Jack and the Beanstalk during my after school classes.

We grabbed some binoculars and went out looking for signs of a giant.

We found a pretty big footprint…

We think the giant might have dropped some of the golden eggs! Luckily each child was able to get one!

We made beanstalks, with clouds and a castle on top.
