STICK MAN by Julia Donaldson, Illustrated by Axel Scheffler

Just look at this cute little Stick Family…

Another wonderful book by Julia Donaldson, with bright illustrations by Axel Scheffler. Wonderful rhyming, humor and heart, and fantastic vocabulary words make this book a winner.

I like to stop and ask the children what happened to the snowman:

When Stick Man ends up in the fireplace, we try to make a lot of noise to wake him up!

A happy ending!

After we read the book, we take a moment and go around the room with my Stick Man and talk about what we would do with him.

We also take a moment to look at a winter scene on the projector. Can we find Stick Man or his home?

This added a nice holiday scent to the library:

For my afternoon class, we went out and looked for our own Stick Men. We added googly eyes and dreamed of all sorts of adventures we would go on with him (or her).

I made of a list of some of the more interesting vocabulary words from this book:

Berto and Beatrix would both give this book a thumbs up… if they had thumbs…
