Did you know that this past Tuesday was International Dot Day? We have been celebrating dots all week! And we have had so much fun with this book.
I love this book for preschoolers. It has something for all ages, and of course the children love to participate in the story. For the younger children, we focus on the colors and counting. For the older children we look at the patterns and looking at left and right.

Can you find the dots that are in the wrong order? (We looked at the pattern)

Oops!
For this next part of the story, the children have to listen very carefully. We clap once, then twice and then three times. After that, the children can clap for as loud and long as they would like.
Back to the beginning? Every child answers with a big YES!
We put dots on poster boards after the story, to make a large collaborative piece of “dot art”.
Did you know that stickers are wonderful to develop small motor skills to help with writing? Miss Handwriting was pleased we were doing this.
