ROOM ON THE BROOM by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler

This book not only has wonderful rhymes, but the vocabulary is remarkable. I just love the amount of words in this book that a far from everyday words, but are used in perfect ease in this story. What a fantastic way to introduce children to new words.

Our broom is looking pretty heavy….

Oh no….

The children loved adding to our cauldron… “Iggety, ziggety, zaggety, ZOOM!”

…to make this “magnificent broom!”!:

The children enjoyed tracking this witch across the moon… could it be “Witch Library” with Beatrix?

This scent added to the fall feel in the library:

We are so lucky to have a “Maker Space” (STEAM) room right next door to the library. The children made a broom in Maker Space, and then had to figure out how many the broom had room for! (There was a lot of giggling going on next door!):

During my after school class, we made brooms to ride on, magic wands and the children took home finger puppets to play with. We especially had fun making our “witch’s brew”.

Another Beatrix approved book!
