It is hard not to read Jack and the Beanstalk when I have this in the library:

Every year I think I’m going to take “Jack” down, but then the children start asking me about it. They love this story so much that I just can’t resist reading it again.
So, I keep finding new and different renditions of this classic tale. This is Jack and the Beanstalk #7!
They love the story so much I leave it up. (I guess you’ll just have to wait and see what I come up with next year.)

We always count the magic beans!
What do you think his mother will think of the beans? Will she be happy?

Our vocabulary word:

In this version, it is an ogre instead of a giant – but an ogre is still pretty big.

Who doesn’t like a golden egg?

We counted some gold too!

Can you see the feet of the ogre?

We did some stomping to Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum. I especially like this for the younger children for speech and movement fun.

We looked at some of the other giants from other Jack and the Beanstalk books. Do you have a favorite?

Jack is climbing down the beanstalk – yelling “Miss Library, grab an axe!”

A country road on the projector. Is this the road that Jack walked down with the cow?

Every child took a magic bean home. Will they plant it? If it grows – will they climb it?

In Maker Space/Stem, the children made beanstalks. The 2 year olds decorated golden eggs.

During the science classes at school, the children dissected beans.

Retelling a story is a wonderful way for children to develop their language skills and strengthen their understanding of the story. As your child colors the pictures below, ask them to retell the story in their own words.

Berto says he never gets tired of the Jack and the Beanstalk tale!

Here is what we read last year:
