We have been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! A school wide celebration that included a fiesta and some taco eating for all of the families at our school.
At our fiesta, the children broke the piñatas that they made in Maker Space.
Parents also got to see all of the cute art projects the children created while learning about different countries and traditions.
During the school day, the children listened to an array of Hispanic music, and some even learned the Mexican Hat Dance in music class with Ms. Jennifer.
In the library we listened to music and looked at a scene from Mexico on the projector. How does this look different from where we live?
We also looked at the flags from countries that celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
Our vocabulary word came up a lot in this book!
Part of learning about another culture is learning a little of its language. This is a simple, colorful book that introduces children to some Spanish words. The language flows so naturally that they barely even notice they’re learning!
We counted the ducks both in English and in Spanish!
